Surveillance systems to monitor the safety of drugs and vaccinations have limited ability to monitor safety of medical countermeasures (MCM). To examine the potential for using BioSense data to monitor and rapidly assess the safety of MCM, the authors reviewed literature and characteristics of BioSense data and consulted experts. Use of BioSense data for this purpose has potential, but a number of issues need further evaluation.Published
